Greetings all! For those of you who caught a show in the past few months, somewhere in the northeast US, you know the fun we been having. Halloween at the Stone Lounge was creepy and hilarious, playing Water Street with our friends the Sim Redmond Band with the most awesome crowd of good people, NYS Harvest Festival opening for The Wailers, opening for George Clinton in Poughkeepsie.. the music life.
Coming up this weekend, be sure to get out to Hector to the Stonecat Cafe for some incredible eats followed by Thousands of One beats. This show always packs out so be sure to get in early, show starts at 10pm. Our next Ithaca show is December 5th at the Chapter House, and we will be bringing our good friend Mbusi out to play on a semi-debut status with his new band From the Heart. Word has it, Mbusi has been heard singing the National Anthem before some BIG national league sporting events recently.
In Thousands of One, some tectonic rumbles have indicated that now is the time to begin working on a new record. It's coming from deep under the crust, below the soil, below the rock and beyond what our eyes have ever seen, something that is both a solid and a liquid, both contained and totally chaotic. Catch it as it erupts... sometime in the spring. Until then, we'll be snuggling up to some warm mics and making the best of the frozen days of winter to come.
Summer summer summer

..more like tropical rains here in upstate New York.. but everything is green!! The band is writing new music at about the same rate that plants grow in the spring. Its really fun... Less road and more rehearsals equals fresh tunes. Getting fired up for Grassroots Festival? We are!! Fired up for Floyd Fest? We are! Fired up for Musefest? Yes we are! We are also psyched to announce that we are performing at the Westcott Street Cultural Fair - a roots people affair for sure. September 13th, do come out. Also, we are playing at a very cool new club - Bloombars in D.C. on Friday July 24th. And just confirmed: a return to NuBlu in the Village on August 22nd.. this is gonna be a bonafide pack up in NYC!

Big ups to the good people of Rochester for a slamming good time last night. Especially to Bodega Radio for bringing the vibes and the afterhours excitations. Dubland Underground shook loose from the foundation and took its dance party on a stellar journey. Those who witnessed the luscious and beautiful vocal performance of Danielle Ponder of Black August, dropped in One More Hand, know that the great goddess blessed us all! til next time...

If you use ILike, click here to visit the Thousands of One ILike site and pick up a couple free songs! "When I Met You" from the album SoulForce, and recording from rehearsal one evening. The track is called "Only a Moment (freeform)" because we have never successfully recreated this jam, more of journey than an actual song. Enjoy!
If you enjoy the art of remix, go to John Browns Body's Myspace page scroll down and find the widget with remixes of "Zion Triad". Two of the tracks on that list were mixed by Joel Blizzard. Dig it! Please do... enjoy the sounds that come from deeeeep in the ground. ROOOTS!
Hiphop Dance Competition

Helping to awaken the sleeping potential of our youth and their ability to bring us together, last weekends Hiphop Dance Competition delivered big time! Over four hundred people filled the BJM school gymnasium and cheered a diverse group of local youth. Four teams competed for prizes such as $200 cash and $400 cash. Much love to Greatest Common Factor, who claimed victory, and to True Three, who took second place. Thousands of One played a big role in making it all happen. Jhakeem organized and promoted the event with an intense drive to make it a memorable night. Joel designed the poster which was made into a t-shirt, which will be seen for some time to come on kids backs across the valley. Brent brought in the heavy heavy sound of the homemade PA system. What a thump! Those kids were so good, they made it an epic evening we wont soon forget!
